I don't know, Jack. I'd have to read his book to know for sure, but if he's counting native-born Americans with Irish surnames as "Irish", he's certainly confusing the issue. If that's the case, I'm not certain what his point would be, since in the melting pot of the United States a surname is not necessarily an indication of one's ethnicity.
