Alan, I remember "Major Dundee". It was a favorite of mine. Haven't seen it in years.

I'm not sure why there's a growing cottage industry in segregating the Confederate army into ethnic groups, but I suspect that the writings of the late Grady McWhiney is a factor.

Frankly, in my decades of research of Arkansas Confederate soldiers I have found absolutely no data to support any theory that one ethnic group was braver (or more cowardly), better (or worse), more (or less) influential, or more (or less) dedicated than another. So, in my opinion, books that categorize the Confederate army by ethnicity are interesting but ultimately irrelevant.
