Again, great info, but I wouldn't want to diminish the marksmanship ability of the sharpshooters of the South. What those sharpshooters did in the Devil's Den at Gettysburg just days before the fall of Vicksburg was amazing. The demoralizing effect of killing Major Sedgwick and other officers from long range shows their true value in battle.
