Hawthorne's/Cocke's regiment was there under Cadwalader Polk. I know this due to the casualties of the Saline County company, Company D from the battle. I believe the regiment probably had some men of other units added to it so it was a hodge podge. I know some cavalry troops who should have been with Crawford and Fagan were also wounded there so there were sopme of these men without mounts there as well and probably attached to this regiment which was probably smaller than the others. I can't remember where I ran across this information on the consolidation but it is out there somewhere. I have a bit of info on one of the Saline County men of Company D who being senior officer had to take command of the regiment. However, I can't remember if Polk was wounded or killed.
