Col. John B. Cocke of the 39th Arkansas was indeed killed in action at Jenkins' Ferry. However, there is no record of other casualties in the regiment. Typically, Confederate casualties were reported on the company muster rolls, and, like most other Trans-Mississippi regiments, no muster rolls were submitted by Cocke's regiment after February 29, 1864.
