Linda, there's no record of Captain Barnes' Clear Lake Independent Guards being involved in any actual fighting; however, I've always intended to explore the question of whether or not this little command might have supported Col. James C. Monroe's 6th Arkansas Cavalry. I've just never had the time to pursue this particular line of research. Maybe someone else is willing to take up the question?

There's no later record of service of N. W. (or W. N.) Morris in a regular Confederate regiment. But, you know how fragmentary the records from this part of the war are. As Doyle Taylor has repeatedly proven, however, there was a whole lot more going on in this area than the surviving records indicate.
