So are you limiting your claims of atrocities or excesses to the 5th Kansas and 1st Indiana Cavalry? I was under the impression and I believe others were, as well, that you attributed these crimes to all Union forces?

I don't believe anyone on these message boards would take issue with claims of destruction of property, killings and other mayhem by certain units at certain times. I believe "John's" reaction was due to remarks he (and I) considered to be directed at ALL union soldiers.

I believe partisanship would be defending against a perceived or false claim regarding Confederate soldiers, in your case. Zealotry is an unprovoked attack on an entire section of the country or their soldiery.

I will be travelling the next two days, so if you continue this thread, please try to include "Arkansas" references in your postings, as you did in your initial one and I hope we can be civil and courteous in our exchanges.
