No sir, I don't know much about him, though I suspect he was from up here in White County. His name was Thomas F. Graves. Before the State seceded he enrolled in a local Searcy volunteer company organized by Capt. Dandridge McRae, the "Border Rangers", on April 29, 1861. The company was enrolled in State service at Searcy on June 5, 1861, and was mustered into Confederate service at Pitman's Ferry on July 25, 1861, as Co. E, 6th Battalion Arkansas Cavalry. On May 15, 1862, the 2nd and 6th Battalions were consolidated to form the 2nd (Slemons') Arkansas Cavalry, and the company became (old) Co. A. On January 1, 1863, the company was transferred to the 3rd Arkansas Cavalry as (new) Co. E. The last record I have of Thomas F. Graves is a remark on the February 29, 1864, muster roll, which states that he had been sent to a hospital from camp at Bull's Gap, Tennessee, on December 15, 1863.

I seriously doubt that Thomas F. Graves was a Saline County man. All the original members of the "Border Rangers" who I've managed to identify so far were White County men.
