Yes there are military records out there. I will check my Arkansas Mexican war listing. Co I that enlisted at Washington was the Saline/Hot Spring County unit of the 1st Ark Mtd Volunteers. I have a copy of a daily diary kept by the 1SG of the unit from the day he left Saline Co in 1846 until his return in 1847. I can find nothing on his war record of the 1860's though.
