Bryan - thanks it is remarkably murky - all of or at least most of the sources say Cleburne went to Little Rock. I'm not from/in Arkansas did Arkansas have enrolled militia? In Kentucky the State Guards (CS) and the Home Guards (US) grew out of the enrolled militia. If so would have the Yell Rifles have more or less come out of that? Were the pre-war militia units social organizations that also had a military emphasis or were the majority of them formed in the aftermath of Lincoln's election in an effort to prepare for the conflict they feared was coming? Again thanks could you point me to a source for the evolution of the Yell Rifles/15th Arkansas?
