An interesting coincidence Doyle.I was just reading Freeman's outstanding R.E.Lee again and General Lee does report after the Peninsula Campaign that in addition to the some 52 field guns taken,"from captured and imported arms,now abundant,each regiment was uniformly armed."
The ANV certainly would have had a surplus of poor field artillery and arms to dispose of at the time.
