David Haimerl has written a book about Clarkson's Missouri battalion, a segment of which was the genesis for what eventually became Buster's Arkansas battalion.
David posts on the Missouri and Indian Territory boards, and, is undoubtedly the "expert" on this battalion and its many evolutions of organization.
After Clarkson and many of his men were captured in mid 1862, Buster became the commander of the remnants of the battalion, which soon after became a part of Clark's 9th Missouri infantry regiment.
Subsequently, Buster, and the Arkansas companies were removed from the Missouri infantry regiment and became known as Buster's Arkansas cavalry regiment.
David's book provides a great read on what had been just another obscure Trans Mississippi unit.
