Re: Jesse C Capshaw, Co. H 19th AR Infantry

Allen, it looks as though your Jesse C. Capshaw was the soldier in Company H, 19th Arkansas Infantry. You noted that he enlisted 03 Mar 1862 at Caney, Arkansas. Caney was a township in Ouachita County. Companies were formed by county, and J.C. appears in the 1860 Census for Caney TWP, Ouachita County, with wife Louisa – I note on Ancestry that her full name was Eliza Louisa (Cannon) Capshaw - and Mary, age 8, was in the household. I note in that census that J.C. was age 40 (born 1820). He was the only Capshaw male of age in Ouachita. Furthermore, Louisa appears as a widow in the 1870 Census for Magazine TWP, Yell County, Arkansas. Members of the household match those in the 1860 census.
