The second card is for "Mr." Brown Taylor stating he served as Brig Gen Albert Pike's Vol ADC and Provost Marshall as of Oct. 24, 1862. (I think this is when Pike responded to the Tonkawa Massacre as if he was still in command of the Indian Territory -- it's just a couple of weeks before his resignation was accepted.)
As you know, Hugh Tinnin's Company shows they were last paid by Brown Taylor in May? 1862 (I think -- when they transferred to Clarkson's Battalion). (Off on a tangent -- I did not know Hugh Tinnin desserted and went to New Mexico. I just ran across that in Footnote.)
In Nov/Dec 1862, Lt Col Robt C Parks, 1st Cherokee Mtd Rifles, states that Brown Taylor had/has their muster rolls at Ft Washita and they need them to get paid.
I'm trying to confirm that Brown Taylor and Brownlee W. Taylor (B.W. Taylor) are the same person and to find more information on him. I can't find a Brown or Brownlee in the Arkansas or Texas census. There is a Brown Taylor in the Mississippi census that was age 21 in 1860. There is no good way that I've found to search for initials, e.g. "B.W.", in Footnote.com so there are a gazillion Taylors to look through to try and find them.
If this is the same person, I assume he was a civilian prior to his appointment as Capt and AQM. The card regarding him as Pike's Vol ADC says "Mr. and Vol ADC".
Thanks Hugh.
