Does anyone know what the uniform would have been for a member of the 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles? If I understand correctly, Mounted Rifles were infantry troops who rode horses to the battle, dismounted and fought as infantry. I also wonder if they would have use the CSA belt buckle or the Arkansas belt buckle (which I saw yesterday in an on-line QM store)? I appreciate the help. I have two ancestors who joined the 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles and I'd like to honor them in my SCV camp by wearing their uniform.

I know that the 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles (Volunteers) were origninally known as the 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles. I'm assuming those are actually two separate units, but would appreciate confirmation. Thanks! Allen
