The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Battle of Iuka website

Recently learned of this project from the Tishomingo County Historical & Genealogical Society that's still developing, but is already well underway, that promises a comprehensive look at the 1862 Battle of Iuka.

In some form or another, the list of the Confederate dead from the battle who are most likely buried in the mass grave at Iuka's Shady Grove Cemetery – which was compiled with the expert assistance of many on this board, namely Bryan Howerton and Anthony Rushing – (as well as the Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama message boards, too) will be housed in the battlefield interpretation room of the Tishomingo County Archives & History Museum at Iuka, MS.

To visit the still-developing Iuka commemorative site, go to <http://www.battleofiuka.com/>

For the time being, you can still find the mass grave information we've collected so far on my site at: <http://www.alabama37th.com/iuka.htm>
