His name was John Robert Castleberry (J.R. Castleberry) on muster rolls. He was living around Snowball, Searcy County, Arkansas at the time. His son was Washington Cahal Castleberry (W.C. Castleberry). He survived as a POW and settled in Oklahoma after the war.

I always thought Mills Springs seemed somewhat suspicious. I just assumed it had been passed down in the family from someone who served with him. I also assumed the regiment was moving North towards Fort Donelson but not sure why Kentucky was where he died. I also have no idea where that specific date would have been recorded.
