Re: Any theories for why a burial location was cho

According to the OR, in November-December, 1861, the First Arkansas Battalion was operating just northeast of Bowling Green in a brigade(?) commanded by T.C. Hindman. Hindman's headquarters was located in Oakland, Ky. The First participated in a probe against Brownsville in late November and in the Battle of Woodsonville in December. Marmaduke also served on Hindman's staff at some point during this time and I know of no reason to believe the 18th left the Bowling Green area prior to the falls of Donelson and Henry and the retreat which followed.
