The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

A greatly appreciated appearance Bruce and thanks. I should have realized that some of these officers would have been from Missouri. I have Jo Shelby's Order book for northern Arkansas for the period from the time he took command in May 64 to days before he took command of his division in September 64. Half the book is in the OR's but spread all over the place with no continuity. The order I am referring to in this message is his first attempts at bringing the independent units together into, as you suggest, a cohesive organization. I have transcribed the work and will publish, however it would best serve the work if we identify people that Shelby mentions in the orders and letters plus place names to be shown on a period map of NE Arkansas. We have additional information with regards to the capture of Queen City by Shelby's Brigade to include the court of inquiry by the Union Navy held a few months later.

My health is much improved and back on track to complete the Hindman Order books as well as Marmadukes. They are done but need an edit. I shall, as you suggest, post this nessage with the Missouri Board. I should of course mention Jim McGhee is aiding in this endeavor whose invaluable knowledge of rebel officers goes without saying.
