Terry,

Glad to hear of your health progress and your exciting projects on both the Hindman and Marmaduke order books. I wish you the best with all three.

From what I read in the "Official Records," General Shelby was calling in all Confederate troops he could get across all of north Arkansas to field as large a force as possible in time for the invasion of Missouri. Shelby normally had good rapport with southern guerrillas in the Ozarks (partly because he led his own guerrilla band around home in northeast Lafayette County, MO in autumn 1861), but he was adamant this time that they all had to come in and work together. This was an "all or nothing" deal if the Trans-Mississippi West stood any chance of success or would wither on the vine. I gather from my reading that Shelby permitted no alibis this time. Too much was at stake.

If I come across anything on those other names, I will speak up. I look with interest to see what your query in the Missouri list stirs up.
