Re: Still searching for Col. Burleson's Regiment

Colonel Burleson appears to have been a mustering officer. He mustered several companies of the 32nd (Gause's) Arkansas Infantry into service at Camp Cache, Jackson County, Arkansas, in mid-June 1862. I have a suspicion that he was an Arkansan, possibly one of the Burleson's of Marion County, Arkansas, but have no proof of that.
