Re: Still searching for Col. Burleson's Regiment

This was some very interesting material. I have the Entire Hindman set of papers transcribed and the orders you mentioned in 1 & 2. However, there seems to be some variations, which is to be expected depending on the origin and receiving clerks. Anyway we have now established that Burleson is the one and same Lt. Col. of the 12th Texas, serving as a Recruiting officer for a period of time at Camp Cache, while Hindman was grabbing up every thing in site to organize his corps. Finally the staff officers mentioned are of the 32nd Arkansas Infantry, aka 4th Trans-Miss infantry. Also, I have now a direct location of Camp Cache I can place on a map.

To put this work into a proper context I am annotating the Hindman Letter and Order book so that when published researchers can associate the activities of Hindman's Corps and the Operational area he was in with events within that area. I am certain that several of you have sorted out some of these confusing facts within the last few years, especially when trying to sort out the Missouri Troops organizing in Arkansas along with Texas formations. This can be a real challenge.

Thanks everyone, more questions to follow.
