Does anyone know if the wreck of the Steamer USS Queen City, Burned by Shelby and his Brigade on June 24th, 1864, was ever excavated or the wreck removed from the White river? I would like to add a foot note to what happened to it. Shelby removed only four of its guns leaving the larger guns to go down with the ship. I would think the wreck would have been a hazard to navigation and would have been raised or broken up.
