Interesting. After I posted this inquiry I did a search of Clarendon and saw the pictures of the Markers about the Queen City. I expanded the image so that I could read the historical part. At the tail end of the historical reading it said that they had not found it. From the frame of the Marker it seemed to have been placed there in recent years. Given today's technology I thought that quite odd. I don't doubt that it is buried in deep mud. Aside from the fact that the bigger guns went down with that ship the wreck would require a major recovery effort at tremendous expense for little gain. The other side of that coin is that at least three men that died the morning it was burned went down with it which would make it a war memorial and thereby protected. Any idea where that article might be?
