Thanks for the new insight. I had found much of the literature from the battle. I also reasoned that today's Hagwood Creek on the Military Road was the site of the battle. After reading the Lee family history, we centered in our research and investigated a region of some 80 acres. The original deed work shows noone owned the land in 1860 but, stories abound that people would camp along the creek and in the open priarie. The survey of 1838 showed the location of the Prairie (absence of trees). We have found scattered bullets, two cannon ball and some old pieces of equipment but not enough to certifiy it as a battlefield. The Moffet Station title has thrown us for a loop since there is no evidence of its existence and Haguewood appears in what was than Johnson County rather than Franklin. Still much to learn.
