The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Quantrill collection open in Gentry, Benton Co

Well, actually I am the one that put it together. Not to take away that, Yes, they are a dedicated bunch! I live in Independence, Missouri and used to live in Gentry. I have done independent research and made numerous findings of proven Quantrill men in the area and the events they took part in! I found the, so far, ONLY known Lawrence raid participant in the entire northwest Arkansas areas that I mentioned in the initial post! Plus...I found the family of well known Quantrill man, Warren Welch, down there! There are MANY unbelievable ties to Quantrill history down there and THAT'S why I opened the collection there! Two of the guerrillas are IN Gentry!
And...ALL of them are documented proven! No tall tales or embellished family yarns. I have found documented proof of all of them!

If there are teachers / educators that use this site, this collection was built for you and your students! These finds have completely rewritten Civil War history in northwest Arkansas and gives you the chance to dive deep into the Kansas-Missouri border wars subject by having the guerrillas right there in your area!

If you are interested in learning more, please check out the "josieqscr" site at the bottom of the posts. This is the site for the collection!
