Re: Quantrill collection open in Gentry, Benton Co

Actually, Bryan, you are not alone. I have had several people tell me "It's about time we hear from the guerrillas!" There are a few that were very excited about this collection and the research involved because of the gravity of the history. The "headline" guerrilla in this research is Thomas Warren. Warren is buried in the Rogers City Cemetery at Rogers, Benton County, Arkansas. I have found numerous reports and history of his time under Quantrill as he served under Dave Poole. This is all proven and documented by papers from the Missouri Provost Marshal records. Warren was VERY active all throughout the war with Poole and even Bill Anderson. From all of my research, he is the only proven guerrilla in the four counties of extreme NW Arkansas to have participated in Quantrill's Lawrence raid and, possibly, Centralia! And THAT is a bombshell feather in the cap for NW Arkansas history! I have also found proven documentation of guerrillas in the area that were at Baxter Springs,KS., Richfield, MO., Plattsburg, MO., Independence, MO. and White Oak Creek, MO.!
Plus, I found three Union soldiers who participated in Jim Lane's sacking of Osceola, MO., and one of the few businessmen of Osceola that was cleaned out, is buried in extreme NW Arkansas! This research has absolutely destroyed the small history of Quantrill just being tied to Prairie Grove and Fort Smith!
If you like, I could send you a copy of research papers I made available to the public and add you to my contact list when our site is updated!
