Headquarters First Corps, Trans-Mississippi Army,
Camp near Van Buren, Arkansas, December 16, 1862.

Special Orders, No. 66.

VII. Adams’ regiment of Arkansas infantry, of Shaver’s brigade, having been so reduced by desertion as to be too weak for service as a regiment, the non-commissioned officers and privates thereof will be immediately distributed among the companies of Shaler’s Arkansas regiment, of the same brigade, until otherwise ordered by the Department commander.

The commissioned officers of Adams’ regiment will report to these Headquarters for instructions, after the distribution above directed shall have been effected.

Brigadier-General Frost, commanding 3rd Division, will cause this order executed at once.
