Fred,

Thanks for the response and I want to thank Marc for his earlier response. I was unaware of the vast quality differences in imported Enfields and that they were copies from private companies, none of them being from the Enfield factory. Fred, if I may ask, were the decisions to re-arm a regiment based on quality or condition of weapons or was there a desire to standardize on a single longarm, as in this case from the Enfield "copy" to the Springfield, at the end of the war?
