Karl,
Thanks so much for the "side-by-side" photos of the repro vs. your grandpa's weapon. What a treat! Studying a repro weapon has often helped me recognize nuances on originals that I seem to just gloss over if I am looking just at the original. I guess a repro helps "clear the visiion" a little bit.

The other helpful thing is that I am invarialbly asked by reenactors and shooters, "what weapon is the most accurate reproduction?" They figure if one studies antique weapons and equipment, that they must be well-versed in the current offerings as well...that isn't usually the case!

Again, thanks for taking the time to show the side-by-side. I found it very helpful.
