I didn't realize that Colt had the parts manufactured out of the country. That puts a new light on the subject. I used to use my Navy Colt for reenacting but switched to an imported Army Colt because I didn't want to detract from the value of the "original". I guess I was mistaken in my good intentions. I knew that it wasn't a collector piece but I figured the Colt name carried some clout. My Army .44 is actually a well made piece and accurate. As you said the quality improved as time passed.
