The State of Virginia did purchase a fair number of Mass Arms Adams Revolvers in the year or so before the war started. These are noted in arsenal inventories in early 1861. Also evidenced by the high number of them being listed as being "new" and issued to Virginia cavalry companies. A local Cavalry company I was resarching at the time all recieved them. There is also photographic evidence as a fair number of identified Virginia cavalry troopers in those early months of the war having their pictures taken in various locations holding their shiney new Adams Revolvers..
