Thanks, John and Stan. Evidently the one interview with her is the only source of information. Frederick P. Todd, in American Military Equipage, 1851-172, points out that from 1864 all USCT were issued regulation uniforms, but a QM Dept. letter reports issuing undersize French Zouave clothing to the musicians and bands of colored regiments. Cathy Williams never claimed to be a musician, but at least this one reference presents the possibility that some Zouave dress may have been utilized in small quantities.
