Greg,

>>>>>>Citizens & Business files in the National Archives has them under their respective names (M-346 Microcopy). That's where I got what I have in my files. A very overlooked CS resource. <<<<<<<

Thank you!

>>>>>I just fear that the Citadel would buck wanting to give this flag back to Iowa since the CHC probably has them fully convinced it is Big Red (see my post on chanting minions in grass skirts). I just do not trust the Citadel at all and this is purely based on the caliber of graduates that were involved in this report. <<<<<<<

Dagnabbit, now I feel compelled to take up for people I don't know =). It is my understanding that the Citadel report was developed for internal use. If this is indeed the case, then it doesn't have to stand up to the standards of current historical research.

With your background (and thank you for not being upset that I googled you), I can see why this all has you seeing red (no pun intended), but as someone who has worked with and known Citadel graduates my whole adult life, I think your fear is misfounded. They may have a tendency to be "Citadel centric", but they are not stupid. Even if they entertained such a thought (which I highly doubt), not returning the flag would be a big scandal and as they are a state-funded school, they literally cannot afford such ignorant behavior.

>>>>I worked in Iowa for many, many months and this country is priviledged to have Iowans as fellow citizens. But, as great as they are, they're not willing to turn over the Red Palmetto or our 1865 Statehouse flag to SC, when everybody knows that should have been done back in the early 1900's when everyone was returning flags. Shoot those flags should have been sitting in Washington, anyway =).>>>>

>>>>>>Can you get a copy of Ben Hudson's SC flags study? I would really like to see what he has. <<<<<<

Greg, this is where my integrity kicks in. I cannot in good conscience request the report from Mr. Hudson with the intentions of sending it to you, when I know that - reasonable or not - he will not do so himself. I feel so strongly about this that eventhough it would be in my best financial interest to see if he has looked through the files at the National Archives before I do so, I'm not going to ask him.

In 2009 I have had one family tragedy after another so my efforts have been and in the near future will continue to be internally concentrated, but I'm going to pick up the flag research as soon as I can see over a couple of alligators. I will share anything I find with you.
