Hello Philip,

It is most likely that the "OVI" flag was used until its replacement by the "OVVI" colour when the 51st veteranized in January 1864. In January Missionary Ridge would have been the last previous battle fought by this regiment. Note too that the "OVVI" flag is a 34 star flag, which would be an unlikely configuration for a post-war colour.
