What document declares the surplus standard and guidons for Col. AJ Smith? Does it state what depot they came from? I ask for file reasons but also I know that the Jeffersonville, Indiana depot was still active then and had a number of surplus Civil War flags on hand, of which I have a listing of some of them. They were also selling off surplus flags - probably blanks however. You could get a 6 by 6 1/2 foot Union regimental for $5!

The Washington Depot also had surplus flags.
