Today had the privlage as part of a documentary film shoot to examine hoards of nautical artifacts. Amongst these were three confederate flags, two contributed to the CSS Alabama, and the third one is a bit of a mystery.

Its a huge CS 2nd National measuring 16.5 feet on the hoist and 27 feet on the fly. The Canton area is approx 10 foot square. Completely hand stitched of what appears to be a tight weave yet light weight wool bunting. The stars are of the sewn peek-through type, evenly spaced. On the canvas hoist edge is hand written in period ink "CSS Tornado, No.2". However I havent been able to locate any Confederate ship bearing this name, thought it was quite a large flag for use on a ship.

Anyone ever heard of a ship by this namesake?
