Thanks, Gregg. I was just wondering if you might have had any information that could shed a little light. I guess this is just another enigma, among many, that we'll never solve. I have seen quite a number of 3rd bunting flags in the MOC collection identified as either "surrendered at Appomattox" or "captured at" the battles around Petersburg and the "Appomattox campaign". And, there are a number of 4th bunting issue in the same collection that are identified as "unknown regiment, Field's Division, surrendered at Appomattox", so most anything is possible.
