Here is a nice example of a smaller 2nd National flag that the 13th NC regiment used as a regimental flag. It is a Richmond Depot issue that was probably issued in the Fall of 1863. It makes one wonder if the Richmond Depot were thinking of replacing the ANV battle flags with the 2nd national flags as regiment flags or if the regiments themselves took it on their own to use it as a regiment flag?
