I try to buy regimental histories on ebay or on other book websites. Not to many of them admit to losing a color.

The War Department has many "unknown" or "no history" for both sides. I am trying to figure out those unknown flags.

Did the Confederates keep records at their War Department on flags that passed through for inspection?
