George, thank you so much for all this information. I sure never realized that he deserted for
that period of time. And stealing guns!!!!!!! Mercy, haha Oh well. But I will order his
records, because that is a part of his life. It is something to learn all this about my
great grandpa!!
Anywhere in his records, does it mention if he is single or married? From census records I
have, it says he and his wife had been married 40 years, which would have made him 18 years
old. And I just kind of have my doubts about that, according to their children's ages, which
the first one was in 1871. Of course, he supposedly had 2 wives and a son by the first wife in
1866. So, I was just wondering if it gave his marital status on any of his records.
