Thank you so much for your response. Your information gives us places to start. First thing I know we need to do is get a copy of their military and pension records. I failed to mention in my original posting, that we have several good pictures of John's son and another man holding the flag.

We went bike riding at Chickamauga a month or so ago and talked to one of the men there and showed him the picture and he suggested posting about the flag to see what we could find. If you would like a copy of the picture, just let me know and I'll email it you.
