Company E was known as the Blue Cap Cavalry of the 2nd Battalion of Georgia Cavalry. On January 20, 1863 the 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion Georgia cavalry were reorganized as the 5th Georgia Cavalry. The Blue Cap Cavalry became Company C.
