On page 313 of my 1997 book, "A History of the 31st Georgia Volunteer Infantry":

"Scott, John R. : B.1836 in GA. Farmer. Enl. 5/1/1862, private. Wounded in hand at Wilderness, Va., 5/5/1864. Paroled at Appomattox Court House, Va., 4/12/1865".

On page 191, his name appears on my Appomattox roster.

That is all I have on your ancestor.
