Re: Battle of Ezra Church - July 28, 1864

Just so everybody knows; Westview Cemetery does not house the graves of the Ezra Church fallen soldiers. I just returned from a long wasted trip to Westview, only to find my fallen ancestor was not there. Westview Cemetery came into being in the 1880's. The soldiers that are buried there on the "Confederate Knoll" are soldiers from the old soldiers home in Atlanta. The soldiers in the home had no family to take care of them, so the responsibility was taken up by the government. When the soldiers died the gov't buried them on the knoll. This is the story straight from the employees at Westview Cemetery on 02-25-06. Sorry to post such disappointing news, but if anyone can help me with the burials of the fallen soldiers grave locations, I would greatly appreciate it. All replies go to B.Griswold@mchsi.com
