Thanks for your help. Generals in Gray was one of the first books I looked through and found out he is not listed in there. My husband and I have "More Generals in Gray", by Bruce S. Allardice, which is a great reference tool. He says that as late as April 19, 1865, Harrison was uniformly signing himself as "colonel, commanding brigade" and questions his promotion to brigadier-general saying that possibly he was being confused with his father. I have located several sources which indicate that he was promoted to brigadier-general in 1864, others say 1865, which I believe to be in error. I am inclined to agree with Bruce Allardice. I will check with the Senate Journal, as you suggested. Thanks for the tip.
