Re: Looking for first hand accounts

Dear Gary:
While researching the regiments in Shermanīs March to Sea,
please advise me if you come across anything about the Swedish born Brigadier General Carlos Stolbrand. He was Loganīs Chief of Artillery as a major, was captured at Etowah River near Kingston on May 17, 1864 and released or escaped from Andersonville in September same year. He got his promotion on February 18, 1865.Lived in Beaufort after the war up till his death in Charleston 1894.I am in the process of writing his Biography hence interested in anything about him. It is said that a Freemason by the name A.Mackay from Kingston helped him to survive in Andersonville. Anything you can share with me very much appreciated. Supposedly there is an article about him in New York Sun in 1907 (where he is called a "berserk")- but where can I get hold of a copy- is that Library of Congress? I am really far away from all local sources of research living in Stockholm, Sweden. Greetings !
