Thanks again Alan. All of the data you posted was very helpful. I have a found a few mentions of this unit in the Official Records but details are quite sparse.
BTW, I visited the museum and the home of Alexander Stephens in Crawfordville, Ga. It was quite an experience. One thing very much worth mentioning is Vice President Stevens'library. There are probably at least 1,000 books that are proported to be just as V.P. Stevens had them placed when he was arrested and taken north.
According to the official conducting the tour, there are no efforts being made to conserve the books...its a shame to let them deteroriate over the years until there is nothing left.
The State of Georgia owms the property which was donated to the state by one of the heirs to Stephens estate.
