If you get to the museum in Kennesaw, check out the history of Glover Machine Works, in Marietta. They made what were called donkey engines, for use in logging and various power supply functions. A few engines were standard guage, but most were narrow guage. My grandfather, Isaac Thomas Boring, worked there for many years, and my dad started there when he was thirteen. Luckily, I.T. was born in 1859, as my GGF, Lemuel, died at Seven Pines in 1862. There is a history of Glover Machine, with many pictures. One shows my grand dad around 1906, when he was forty seven. I have part of the original picture.

They used wooden molds for making sand casts of gears. Some of these are on display. The Glover family donated the
land for the Marietta town square. I went to school with John Glover the IV. The Marietta Water Dpartment occupies the land where the plant stood, at Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive.

The Kennesaw House, the hotel where Andrews and his raiders stayed before the great locomotive chase, is now also a museum. Stan
