Chris, W.T. Wofford raised the 18th Ga. in April 1861. My GGF and two great uncles were in Co. A. They were part of the famed Texas Brigade until after Sharpsburg, where Col. Wofford commanded the Texas Brigade, Hood having been promoted. The 18th fought in the Cornfield. Cobb's Brigade was at Antietam Bridge, I believe.

After Sharpsburg, the 18th was transferred to Cobb's Brigade, to bring Ga. troops together. At Fredericksburg, the 18th was at the Stone Wall, I suspect with the 24th. After Cobb was mortally wounded, Wofford was promoted to Brigadier General. Thereafter it was Wofford's Brigade, until he was wounded at Spottsylvania, along with my Great Uncle Frank. Both were furloughed to Ga. I think Dubose took over then.

BTW, I've carried a .30 caliber bullet from a training accident in my left wrist for 58 years. It has never moved, until this Spring, when I was helping move some furniture. It apparently twisted sideways, and hurt like the dickens. My arm was bruised, apparently because of the shift. After a few days it apparently moved back to its original position, and I've had no more trouble from it. Good luck on your search. Stan
